About the job

Job summary

We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer to join our team at The National Lottery Community Fund in Wales. You will join our friendly team of nine, and work alongside the wider Engagement and Insight Directorate across the UK.

Job description

12 month fixed term contractDepending on your location and preference, you will be based in either the Cardiff or Newtown office. You are welcome to be based in the office full time, or a combination of home and office working. You will occasionally need to travel within Wales to work with community groups and charities, and to other offices across the UK to work with colleagues.

You will need a broad set of skills (including planning, writing and storytelling) so that you can play an active part in our multi-disciplinary communications team, and pick up other work when required. You will be a flexible worker: comfortable using your own initiative to lead pieces of work or working collaboratively with colleagues. You will need to be well-organised and able to prioritise.

You will work with groups who have successfully applied for a grant from us, to help tell the story of how they’ve benefited from National Lottery funding to a range of audiences. You will get the chance to interview some of their inspirational staff and volunteers and hear from the people they have helped.

You will create visual and written content, adapting your style to suit press, broadcast and digital media channels. You will work with colleagues across the Fund supporting both Wales specific and UK Wide campaigns. You could be leading on creating videos and podcasts, organising photoshoots and holding events. You will be assigned work and projects to work on, and will also be expected to use your creativity and initiative to create content.

Welsh language skills are essential. We can provide support and training to learners. Our team are predominantly Welsh speakers, so there is always plenty of opportunity to use and practise your Welsh, and work through the medium of Welsh is that’s your preference.

Salary: £25,019 - £27,500, Pro rata 0.6 (3 days a week)

Deadline to apply: Monday, 11 March 2024

Interview Date: Friday 15 March 2024

Location: Based in Cardiff or Newtown, with flexibility to regularly work from home

If you would like an informal conversation about this role, please contact: rosie.dent@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk
