We have an exciting opportunity to join the University’s Digital Transformation programme as a Communication Officer working on a hybrid basis. A minimum of two days in the office, one of which is a fixed team day on Tuesdays. As part of our Digital Transformation programme, launched in 2022, we are working closely with staff and students to imagine how the University’s culture, processes and technology must evolve in the digital era. The programme is enabling Oxford to preserve its unique place in the world by being digitally fit for the future. Effective communications and engagement are an integral part of our transformation journey, and the Communications Officer, embedded within the Digital Transformation team, will play a vital role in our progress. We are looking for a communication colleague who can help bring Oxford’s digital ambition to life and strengthen how we engage people across the University and beyond. Responsibilities will include: Working closely with the Digital Transformation programme Communication Lead to deliver a wide range of communications activities, for example, researching and writing news articles, updating websites, creating content for newsletters and slideware, organising roadshows and being a key part of the team behind high profile events such as the Oxford Digital Festival. Write, edit and proofread a range of written communications materials for a broad range of internal audiences across the collegiate University. You will also develop and update online communications for the programme, including Oxford's Digital Transformation webpage and contribute to developing compelling digital content – from digital screen images to podcasts and videos. You will plan and deliver events – both online and in-person and a range of sizes. Alongside this, you will maintain a communications calendar to help inform future communications activities. About You We are looking for a strong team player with excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience. Our ideal colleague will have excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and the ability to inspire the confidence of senior colleagues. You will be able to manage and deliver events in both online and in-person formats; work independently in a complex environment and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines. Also essential is proficiency in working with a range of computer-based and online applications, including website content management systems (training can be provided if needed). Experience of working in a higher education environment and digital projects will be desirable.
