The Casual Community Cafe Support Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the operation of our Community Cafes, assisting individuals with neurodiversity and learning disabilities in developing valuable employment skills in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and support to individuals with neurodiversity and learning disabilities as they work in Community Cafes, helping them develop and practice essential employment skills such as customer service, food preparation, and cash handling.
- Collaborate with work coaches and management to ensure the smooth operation of daily tasks, including taking orders, serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and handling transactions.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in the cafes, promoting positive interactions and social engagement among customers and employees.
- Assist with cafe setup and cleanup, including arranging furniture, restocking supplies, and ensuring that the environment is safe and accessible for all patrons.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to individuals with neurodiversity and learning disabilities, supporting their personal and professional growth and development.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to cafe operations, including attendance, inventory, and customer feedback.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the organisation, promoting awareness and understanding of neurodiversity and advocating for inclusivity and acceptance in the community.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanour.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and engage with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, showing empathy, respect, and sensitivity.
- Availability to work on a casual basis, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends, as needed to cover holidays and sickness.
- Commitment to upholding health and safety standards and promoting a supportive and inclusive environment for all cafe patrons and employees.
You will report directly to your Kitchen Manager / Work Coach
