In DWP Digital our Content Designers focus on meeting user needs:
- We make complex information and processes easy to understand and follow, and
- We help DWP products and services achieve their intended outcomes - helping people find work, access benefits and get support.
Content designers meet user needs with content. They help people complete essential tasks and access the support they need.
As our new Content Designer you'll be responsible for creating, updating and reviewing content for end-to-end user journeys. You'll get the most appropriate content to users in the right place and in the right format.
DWP Content Designers are comfortable using evidence, data and research to make the right content decisions. You'll make sure user needs and goals are met, and that our services and products meets policy intent.
We are looking for a Content Designer who can work within a multidisciplinary team across digital and non-digital channels. Our designers contribute to and use style guides and design patterns to produce consistent content.
Your essential skills and experience:
- Experience working at pace within an agile digital environment
- Experience using style guides to produce plain English content with exemplary spelling and grammar.
- Able to take a user-centred approach to content design and explain design decisions in a way that other people understand.
- Able to put forward the case for content design to senior stakeholders and product owners.
- Experience of using data and user research to inform content decisions.
- Able to handle constructive criticism of your work and to constructively review other people's work.
- Know how your work fits into the wider context of the team and department.

You'll be based in our brilliant digital hub in London.
We also have all the tools and tech to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model - some time at home some time in the office.
We offer competitive pay of up to £47,986 per annum.
You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 27.9%, worth up to £13,388 a year.
You'll get a generous leave package starting at 26 days, rising to 31 over time.
