Blaize’s Controller is a trusted advisor when it comes to managing risks while running a complex and international business and can translate financial data into useful information and turn leadership strategy into an actionable plan. The Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Financial Reporting
- Timely delivery of month end income statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow statement to reflect an accurate picture of the organisation’s performance to shareholders and management team.
- Understanding and interpreting reported data in order to provide the business with information to make operational decisions.
- Identification of variances to agreed budgets/plans and provide enough insight into the drivers that are causing the variances, so operational decisions can be made to rectify.
- Develop and implement new value added financial reports for the business in response to evolving strategic needs.
- Statutory Reporting Responsibilities
- Ensure that the group complies with all relevant governance, regulatory and statutory reporting requirements to the highest standards.
- Work with the external auditors and tax advisors to optimise the group structure and compliance obligations.
- Adopt recommendations resulting from the external auditors, so as to improve the internal control environment.
- Review agreements to ensure that they are accounted for in the best possible way for the group whilst also adhering to generally accepted accounting standards.
- Functional Leadership
- Bring strong functional leadership to the finance team in the UK, US, and India with a holistic approach to finance, business processes, and systems.
- Act as a point of guidance for the finance team in India and the UK, at the same time develop and grow your reporting team.
- Ensure that the infrastructure within India can support and drive the exciting growth opportunities for the business.
- Taxation
- Ensure that adequate support exists for sales tax compliance, and returns are prepared on a timely basis.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a CPA/ACA.
- 10+ years of combined experience in accounting and finance.
- 5+ years of experience managing a finance team.
- Experience managing accounting processes, contributing to a monthly accounting close, and experience with international accounting.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP and operational accounting/financial reporting processes.
- Netsuite experience and excellent spreadsheet skills
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and be comfortable managing through organization and process change.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills and able to communicate complex financial transactions to non-financial individuals.
- Rigorous attention to detail and the basics of financial control without losing sight of the big picture.
- A deadline driven individual with strong performance management skillset.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to develop long term plans to best address the needs of the organization and to think through the details and contingencies of options and plans and make sound business decisions.
- Experience with leading, motivating, and developing an interdisciplinary team, and clearly articulating objectives and strategies to superiors, subordinates, customers, and suppliers.
