Further Information:
A female Personal Assistant is required to work for 4 hours per week on a Saturday to support, a young girl with complex special needs in the Bransholme area of Hull.
This young girl is 16 years old and has Severe Autism, Severe Learning difficulties and an undiagnosed growth hormone issue, and needs support with all aspects of her life and personal care. Duties would include all aspects of personal care, dressing, entertaining [very important!] and engaging in play activities.
The successful applicant would be required to take this young lady out into the local community for her lunch and then whatever activities have been agreed by her parents,
Applicants must be prepared to assist with intimate personal care. They must also be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. They do not have to be particularly physically strong to do this, technique is as important as physical strength. Having a warm friendly disposition is a key requirement. Applicants should also have a genuine interest in working with disabled children, be honest and trustworthy, and have a confident nature with the ability to remain calm. In addition applicants should be good at communicating, tolerant, non-judgmental and be able to build good relationships with people, based on trust and respect.
The applicants must be flexible in their approach to work, willing to follow the directions of this girl’s parents and like a job that can be demanding and varied but very rewarding, experience of working with young disabled people with complex needs would be preferred.
