The Data Management Hub is growing rapidly. Our Division has developed the Bank's Data Strategy, and we are now tasked to own and be responsible for key elements of its implementation.
Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to help implement the recently refreshed Bank of England’s Data Management Policy, a core deliverable of our Data Strategy! The aim is to enable promote and support operational best practices and controls around data and data-related processes in a way that generates positive business outcomes.
The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge of some Data Governance and Data Management concepts such as Master Data Management, Reference Data, Data Cataloguing, Metadata, Data Quality and Data Ownership; though the expectation is that some candidates will have more knowledge in some areas more so than others. Candidates with limited background in these specific fields but with transferable skills and a genuine desire to learn will also be considered provided there is evidence of major successes from previous roles. Key to the role is an ability to absorb detailed information and have a genuine passion for data.
The successful candidate will be proactive and self-sufficient. They will need to develop working relationships with key stakeholders such as leads from the Chief Operating Office, Data Owners, Data Stewards and the wider Data and Analytics teams around the Bank. They may also on occasion be asked to step outside their core role and support high profile endeavours such as the wider Data Strategy or other emerging project work.
- Experience of working with data from a data discipline.
- An ability to understand data life cycles and risks associated with poor data management.
- Stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Experience of translating complex concepts into simplified presentations and being able to articulate them.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Experience of supporting the drafting of documentations such as info guides or training materials.
- Comfortable working according to defined processes but able to think on their own to deliver good business outcomes.
- Self-sufficient and proactive attitude managing one’s own workload.
- Experience of actively supporting long-term strategic business objectives such as transformation projects or policy rollouts.
- Skilled capabilities across Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of other Data Governance principles such data ownership, master data management, metadata management, reference data, data risk and data privacy.
- Experience of working in business transformation programmes in a project environment.
- Experience of using JIRA and Confluence for work management and documentation.

Salary and Benefits Information
This specific role offers a base salary of circa £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.

National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
