A large London based university are looking to develop their finance team by hiring a new senior lead in their financial reporting team. You will be a qualified accountant, either coming from practice as an Audit Manager, or with significant post qualified experience in industry. You will be leading on all year end activity, audit process and financial reporting, along with process and systems improvements where possible. The position will report directly to the Financial Controller, and will lead a team of 5-6 people, so leadership experience would be useful, although not a requirement. This is the perfect step for someone looking to develop a team in a large business, and work with a brilliant group of people. Your Role
- Shape and influence University wide strategic directives and translate this as required at the Faculty / Directorate level. This will include influencing and supporting financial and commercial strategy.
- Accountable for the timely and accurate production of year end financial statements.
- Own the relationship with the External Auditors and be responsible for continuous audit process improvements.
- Liaise with internal auditors, frame management responses and implement audit recommendations.
- Lead on optimisation, advocate effective use and best practice of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform.
- Responsible for cashflow forecasting and treasury management
- Continuously identifying new and innovative finance management and leadership approaches which enhance stakeholder experience whilst meeting University needs. Present constructive challenge to traditional ways of working where scope for improvement in processes is identified.
- Proactively engage with peer networks to benchmark the performance of the service against other UK Universities, identifying ways to achieve better overall value outcomes for the University.
- Support and champion our Oracle cloud-based platform and associated best practises across the Finance Directorate and Faculties & Directorates
- Represent the Finance Directorate on Committees’ and working/project groups
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified (ACA/ACCA preferred) Accountant with minimum 3-5 years PQE
- Prior experience leading a team
- Significant experience leading audit process, either in practice or within industry
- Excellent interpersonal and team development skills, someone who is keen to engage with multiple stakeholders and get the best out of their department
- Experience using Oracle Cloud would beneficial but not necessary
