Salary: GBP46,000 - GBP49,500p.a.
Hours of Work: Monday Thursday, 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am 3.30pm
Hybrid Working: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.
Location: Cambridge, with the requirement to work across the Trust and to travel between sites.

Kameo Recruitment has partnered with this educational trust in Cambridge to recruit a Deputy Financial Controller. You will act as lead on key aspects of financial operation, deputising for the Financial Controller and providing support to their hub and schools across the Trust as appropriate.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Deputy Financial Controller:
Support delivery of consistent monthly reporting across the trust to deliver accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts and supporting management information, producing management accounts for allocated schools Develop and monitor KPI reporting and provide analysis and explanations of variances in order to identify and effectively communicate key trends and risks to senior management and other stakeholders. Provide tailored management information and support to budget holders. Take an active role in coordinating the annual budget process, supporting the hub schools/central operations allocated to you and their senior leadership to produce accurate budgetary plans, as well as supporting the consolidation of budgets for reporting to Trustees, ensuring that budgets are linked appropriately to curriculum plans. Support the Trust Group Accountant (Systems and Projects) with the maintenance and development of the financial management system and processes to interface into it. This includes administration of users for Sage Intacct, iCompleat, Barclays banking and Barclaycard. Manage the process for ensuring no trust bank account goes overdrawn. Manage investment of Trust monies, optimising the return on working capital whilst allowing easy access of funds. Ensure the accurate monthly preparation and processing of payroll, including all variable pay elements. Ensure that tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively. Audit and compliance Ensure that hub schools comply with VAT legislation. Line management of Finance Business Partners and Assistant Accountant within hub, including training, performance management and monitoring of work as appropriate.
Requirements for the Deputy Financial Controller:
Accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, or CIPFA) is essential. At least 2 years working in a similar finance role. Management of a small finance team is desirable. Responsibility for finance systems, processes, and compliance. Highly IT literate, including advanced skills in Excel. Sound knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and ERP systems An excellent communicator, both orally and in writing Ability to move between sites in a timely manner. Preparation of payroll for a medium sized organisation (50+ employees) VAT legislation
