Job description

The Treasury is the United Kingdom's economics and finance ministry.

The Treasury plays a meaningful role at the heart of Government in the UK and, together with the Cabinet Office and Number 10, forms the centre of the Government and wider Civil Service.
Job Description
The group promotes sustainable economic growth and higher productivity for the UK. The group works alongside other departments and government organisations to ensure that we are thinking creatively, spending wisely and acting boldly to deliver our goals. We have a varied and exciting agenda, providing analysis and advice on enterprise, innovation, private sector investment and a cost-effective transition to a low carbon economy.
The post provides leadership to a team of circa 70 staff on a range of related policies on corporate governance, insolvency and sector policy; business, trade and culture; and Economic security and resilience.
The post-holder will:
Promote and develop the growth-enhancing policies of HM Treasury internally and externally, and be responsible for delivering strategic business engagement for the organisation Ensure that economic resilience and security are embedded in the development of economic policy within the department, leading the development of policy that creates an environment for the UK to respond to economic-based threats to national security and reduce supply chain vulnerabilities Champion prosperity in the development of economic security and resilience policies across Government, by ensuring proportionality, targeting and consideration of economic impacts Lead policy work on corporate distress and restructuring, delivering a smooth case-working system for any tailored interventions that the Government wishes to make in strategic companies, enabling a sensible approach to sectoral analysis including advanced manufacturing Sponsor UK Government Investments and other bodies to manage investments according to the government priorities Act as the responsible Spending Director for other departments and their arm's length bodies, ensuring effective spending control is delivered collaboratively, with creative and bold thinking that prioritises growth Create an environment that celebrates diversity and inclusion, building a hard-working team focused on continuous improvement and development, promoting a culture of respect towards colleagues at all levels Person Specification
While in post, the successful candidate will be expected to perform well across the full range of Senior Civil Service behaviours set out in the Success Profile framework, and demonstrate commitment to Civil Service values.
The criteria for the purpose of selection are:
