SPECIALIST DOMESTIC ABUSE TENANCY SUPPORT WORKER
IMMEDIATELY REQUIRED TO WORK IN ABERGAVENNY.
Location: Abergavenny (with some remote working).
Hours: Full Time.
Duration: Temporary (with potential for permanent).
Start: February 2024
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable individuals? If so, BRC are recruiting for a Specialist Domestic AbuseSupport Worker to join an incredible team in Abergavenny.
This charity believes that everyone deserves a safe environment, free some homelessness and abuse. In this position you will focus on providing housing related support to individuals in need as a result of Domestic Abuse. You will be required to provide advice as well as emotional support to clients, assisting them in their journey to move on from Domestic Abuse and create a fresh start for themselves.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to individuals and families vulnerable to losing their tenancies as a result of Domestic Abuse.
- Offering compassionate support as well as practical advice.
- Conduct risk assessments and management plans to ensure that the client's safety is maintained at all times.
- Deliver emotional support, advocacy, and guidance to empower individuals in making informed decisions.
- Collaborate with external agencies, such as the police, social services, and healthcare professionals to ensure that measures are in place to prevent the breakdown of client's tenancy.
- Work within a multi-agency hub.
- Provide short term, medium, and long term crisis intervention.
- Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and evaluate the impact of support
To be successful in this position, you will need to hold previous experience working in support services, particularly domestic violence. You will be compassionate and empathetic individual who believes in building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues. You will be required to work flexibly through the week and take part in an on-call rota. Furthermore, you will have a good understanding of housing options (private & social housing), and the housing application process. You will also need the confidence to manage your own workload and can work using your own initiative to tackle crisis situations.
