Job Description:We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable
Estates Officer (Caretaker) to join our team at a further education college based in Stoke-on-Trent. This position is temporary, full-time, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities.
Responsibilities:- Maintenance and Security: Responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, and security of college buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors.
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify any maintenance issues, security concerns, or health and safety hazards, promptly reporting and addressing them as necessary.
- Facilities Management: Coordinate and oversee day-to-day facilities management tasks, including waste management, cleaning schedules, and minor repairs, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Emergency Response: Act as a first responder during emergencies, including fire alarms, security breaches, and other incidents, following established procedures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of occupants.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a thorough understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the operation of educational facilities, ensuring compliance at all times and conducting risk assessments as required.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and incidents, maintaining documentation in accordance with college policies and regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues across different departments, including facilities management, security, and administration, to support the effective operation of the college estate.
Requirements:- Hold an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate.
- Possess a Property/Building qualification, such as a Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds certification.
- Demonstrated understanding of health and safety regulations, with a relevant qualification being desirable.
- First Aid at Work certification is desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar caretaker or Estates Officer role is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
