The Opportunity
Roke is a leading technology and engineering company with clients spanning Defence, National Security, Futures (Aerospace, Energy, Law Enforcement, Central Government) and Intelligence. You will work alongside dynamic teams that help our customers solve complex and unique challenges. 
Marketing and Communications (Marcoms) provides a world class service across all parts of Roke and is responsible for building the brand, generating leads, creating partnerships with customers and other key stakeholders (internally and externally). We are responsible for delivering the brand strategy across our physical and digital platforms, specifically events, trade shows, PR activities, multi-media content, sales presentations, sponsorships, and much more. 
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organised, and driven, able to manage time and events effectively. This role can sometimes include attending different Roke offices and events, where you can passionately drive sales and effective brand awareness.
Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities 
  • The Events Manager will be responsible for developing, managing and executing the Roke UK and International events activities. The role involves leading on the full event cycle, with end-to-end project management, building the annual plan including project management, budgeting, execution and post-event evaluation reporting/analysis.
  • The successful candidate will work at all levels within the business, as well as with business units, partner organisations and customer stakeholders and lead on multiple events at a time.
  • Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the role will play a crucial part in successfully delivering our events strategy, project managing all aspects of events, collaborating with third-party contractors and event suppliers, to ensure that our events align with our company’s business strategy and goals.
  • Leading on the delivery of external customer facing events and support for small, medium, large internal events.
  • Ensuring Roke external events are defined and managed in a way that enhances the Roke brand, supports the relationship with our customers and delivers competitive advantage.
  • Project management, strategic planning, communication and coordination of the Roke portfolio of tradeshows and shows, delivering end-to-end event management for UK/International led events, from strategic planning to design and delivery.
  • Supporting on key internal events, providing advisory services and logistics support.
  • Bringing an innovative and creative approach to deliver events that build positive interactions and relationships with our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively project manage multiple events at a time, executing successfully to plan and within budget.
  • Responsible for developing, managing and distributing Roke merchandise for all events. Involves end-to-end stock management and introducing a company wide merchandise solution.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end management of the internal Marketing Ticket process.
  • Building strong relationships with business unit teams on UK and International  led events (e.g. Defence, National Security, Futures and Intelligence).

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or qualification or experience in Marketing, Events, Communications, Advertising, or a Technology Business Management related subject is ideal but not essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience of event management at a leadership level.
  • An excellent event strategist, planner and project manager.
  • Experience of working at all levels of the business with the confidence and ability to interface with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Experience with budget and supply chain management.
  • Flexible, target driven, proactive approach, with exceptional problem solving and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and manage simultaneous events and activities, while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • A great team player who will work seamlessly with teams from across the business.
  • Ability to travel to the Roke UK offices (e.g. Romsey, Woking, Gloucester and Manchester) and UK events as needed with the possibility of remote work.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Knowledge of social media, website and Content Management Systems.
  • MS Office (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint and M365).
  • Knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe applications, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, InDesign) and collaboration platforms is ideal but not essential.
  • Experience within Defence, National Security, Law Enforcement, Government, Aerospace, Energy and Intelligence would be ideal but not essential.

Security
Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC clearance. As a result, you should be a British Citizen and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years for SC and 10 years for DV.
