Export Administrator
Competitive salary, 9.00am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 2.30pm on a Friday. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
A new opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and results driven individual to join an engineering company. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Managing all aspects of the export processes within a company and assisting with import processes when required. They ensure compliance with customs regulations, track shipments, handle documentation, and coordinate with internal departments to facilitate smooth import and export operations
Export Administrator Key Tasks
- Process and manage export quotations and orders (including some key accounts) ensuring a high level of accuracy, assisting customers with queries and supporting the external sales team when required.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to import and export regulations, including customs laws, trade agreements, and licensing requirements (including US regulations).
- Prepare and review export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations to ensure accuracy and compliance. Assisting the purchasing team with checking import documentation for accuracy when required.
- Collaborate with freight forwarders and logistics providers to arrange transportation, track shipments, and manage customs clearance processes.
- Liaise with customs authorities to ensure smooth clearance of imported and exported goods, resolve any issues that arise, and handle customs audits.
- Collaborate with sales, purchasing, finance, and warehouse teams to align import and export activities with business goals and objectives.
- Accurately classify imported and exported goods according to customs tariff codes to determine duty rates and ensure compliance with trade regulations and licence requirements.
- Keep comprehensive records of all import and export transactions, including shipping documents, licenses, end user statements and compliance documentation for audit purposes.
- Identify opportunities to minimise import and export costs through efficient shipping methods and consolidation of shipments.
- Stay informed about changes in international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements to ensure compliance and adapt import/export processes accordingly.
Export Administrator Requirements
- Proven experience in import and export operations, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of import and export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade practices.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, tariff classification, customs valuation methodologies, origin rules and preference statements.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in document preparation and compliance with regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving skills to address issues related to customs clearances, shipping delays, and trade compliance requirements.
- Experience in working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other third-party logistics providers.
- Knowledge of export licences and processing licence applications an advantage.
- Knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations an advantage.
