Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated experienced Support Worker's to join our Work With Vista team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social work and possess strong skills in childcare, crisis management, child welfare, conflict management, experience with children, child protective services, behavioral health, and crisis intervention. The candidate will be passionate about supporting families of children with disabilities, promoting independence, and enhancing the overall well-being of both the children and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance to individuals in need.
- Assist in developing and implementing care plans.
- Take children and young people with disabilities out into the community to promote independence and engagement in new activities.
- Provide respite for families by offering support and supervision during outings and activities.
- Assist with personal care tasks as needed, including toileting, changing pads, and bathing.
- Offer emotional and physical support to young people and their family members, and provide appropriate referrals to additional support services as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members to ensure comprehensive care and support for families.
- Independently manage workload and prioritise tasks to meet the needs of families effectively.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of activities, progress, and any incidents that occur during support sessions.
- Conduct assessments to identify needs and risks.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Advocate for clients' rights and best interests.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions.
Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with families.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting families during challenging times.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Basic understanding of personal care tasks and willingness to assist as needed.
- Strong crisis management skills to handle challenging situations.
- Knowledge of child protective services regulations and procedures.
- Previous experience working with children in various settings.
- Valid driver's license is preferable, but not essential.
