We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join a large secondary school’s safeguarding team in Wakefield. The ideal candidate will be committed to improving life outcomes for all children, especially the most disadvantaged, and will believe in the potential of every child to achieve excellence.
Day-to-day of the role:- Work closely with the safeguarding team to ensure all students are safeguarded and supported to succeed at the highest level.
- Provide emotional support and practical advice to families during vulnerable times.
- Act as a liaison between the school, students, and their families to facilitate communication and resolve issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage parents and carers in the educational process and school community.
- Monitor and report on the well-being of students, identifying any concerns and taking appropriate action.
- Collaborate with external agencies to access additional support for families when needed.
- Empathy and a strong desire to support children and their families.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work sensitively with families in challenging circumstances.
- Experience in a similar role within an educational or social care setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
