Job Title: Finance Officer

A Housing subsidiary of a London Borough Council is looking for a Finance Officer to join their growing team. My client is key to providing rented accommodation to the local community. With 2,000 units owned by the council, and another 1,000 currently being built, the organization provides safe and sustainable housing to all residents within the borough.
Established in 2015, my client experienced steady and sustainable growth and development, leading ambitious process improvement programs and delivering a positive outcome for both their tenants, and the wider community.
Within the role, you will be vital in managing core financial processes that will support month end process as well as play an active role in the imminent systems implementation.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations as well as bank reconciliations for the subsidiary companies using the automatic reconciliation system.
- Ensuring that bank statements are downloaded daily, and the bank transactions spreadsheet is updated regularly.
- Preparation of Housing Benefit Receipts and further rent receipts to post to tenants’ accounts.
- Preparation of rents where required.
- Manage the purchase ledger, managing suppliers and ensuring timely authorisation and payment of invoices.
- Preparation and posting of journals including month-end and cashbook journals.
- Improving processes and procedures in conjunction with the system implementation.
- Adhoc analysis of bad debt provision and revenue.
To be successful in the role, you will have secure working knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles, with the experience of working within a similar role. In particular, strong balance sheet reconciliation experience is required with ability to take ownership of the role to best support the Finance Business Partner/wider finance team. Experience of supporting a systems upgrade/implementation would be advantageous. Housing experience preferred but not essential.
