Our head office is based in central Manchester and is the home to many of our central functions. To support our continued ambitious growth plans, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Systems Implementation Project Manager to join our fantastic IS team.

What are we looking for?

This role offers an outstanding opportunity to join BES Group at a key moment in the growth of our business and the evolution of our Group shared service and systems landscape

We are a highly acquisitive, private equity backed business. Our strategy is to migrate acquired businesses onto our Group Dynamics 365 Finance system and this role is central to that goal. You will be responsible for the project management of the work to both onboard new acquisitions to the Group finance system and to improve our Group finance system functionality and processes.

Our Group Dynamics 365 Finance system went live to a subset of businesses in 2023. We now have a long and constantly growing pipeline of acquired businesses to migrate on to the system. The ability to successfully and predictably migrate acquisitions onto our Group shared service platforms is viewed by our executive board as a critical capability that brings substantial additional value to our business.

The are 3 skills of particular importance to success in this role:

  • Solid project management skills with an ability to bring discipline, structure and a repeatable methodology to our finance system migrations.
  • An ability to lead, work with and bring together a diverse range of people, from finance, operations, IT and external partners into a single project team.
  • Finance domain knowledge with a solid understanding of financial processes and finance system functionality providing you with credibility and the ability to knowledgeably direct project work.

Whilst our technical environment is Microsoft centric, implementation experience with Dynamics 365 is not essential through preferrable. We are open to working with someone who brings a track record of leading implementations with other leading Finance Systems and helping them grow their Dynamics 365 skills.

We are a relatively small change and IT project team tasked with a significant responsibility for transforming and continuously improving our business operations. This role most of all demands someone with passion for their work who is able communicate with ease with staff across our business.

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owning, maintaining and reporting on to executive governance on our overall schedule for migrating acquired business onto our Group Dynamics 365 platform.
  • Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of individual finance system migration projects.
  • Building and leading a cross-functional team, including IT, finance, operations and external consultants.
  • Developing detailed project plans that consider all stages of the migration process, from initial analysis and design through to development, testing, and deployment.
  • Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Managing and owning the relationship with third party implementation and support consultants.
  • Providing guidance and leadership to project team members, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven environment.
  • Establishing a documented, repeatable migration methodology as a Group asset which enables the successful and predictable migration of new acquisitions.
  • Owning and leading the implementation of the improvement backlog for our finance system..

Success of this role will be measured by:

  • The successful implementation of Group finance processes across acquired businesses
  • The establishment of a finance system project team and migration methodology as a both a Group asset and capability
  • Your contribution to building a collaborative, innovative and supportive environment withing your project team as well as the wider business

What experience do I need?

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in finance and accounting system implementations, ideally (but not essential) with Dynamics 365 Finance,
  • Experience using project management software and tools and reporting status to executive governance committees
  • A strong understanding of finance processes and reporting, ideally through time spent as in a corporate accounting role
  • Experience managing third party implementation consultants and IT suppliers.
  • Experience operating and working in a business with multiple trading entities, ideally in a private equity environment

Key Skills

  • Outstanding IT and finance project management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and work closely with them to identify acceptable solutions to business problems

Qualifications & training:

  • Ideal but not essential
  • A finance and accounting qualification (or exposure to) e.g. CIMA, ACCA
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
