Accountancy Connect is seeking a practice trained Financial Accounting for a recognisable multi-national company in Fareham.
Working within the financial accounting team, the Financial Accountant will prepare and also support the preparation of statutory reporting for subsidiaries in the UK and across Europe. Alongside this, there will be other responsibilities including project work, such process improvement and system development.
Our client is looking for someone with audit experience and who is ACA qualified, or actively studying ACA. If the selected individual is still studying, full study support for ACA will be provided.
The key responsibilities of the Financial Accountant role are as follows:
- Prepares and supports statutory reporting for UK and European subsidiaries.
- Develops, implements and/or maintains one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger (local and USGAAP).
- Supports and challenges centralised accounting functions.
- Project-lead work around constant improvement in financial processes (eg shorter close; improvements in intercompany process, integration work with new head office).
- Assist in the preparation of federal, state and local reports (eg ONS) and tax returns .
- Interpret reports and records for managers/stakeholders .
- Review compliance with SOX controls at local level.
- Involved in reviewing and tracking information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and other accounting regulations.
- Liaise with worldwide finance community on issues as they arise.
- Ad-hoc accounting duties as directed.
Required skills and experience for the Financial Accountantrole:
- Qualified or actively studying ACA.
- Financial audit experience within a practice.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of SAP systems and SOX controls would be ideal, but not essential.
