Description of Post:
As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for the financial health of Iken as an organisation, overseeing the collection, analysis and consolidation of financial data to assist the Directors in the effective management of company finances. You will develop and maintain financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with all statutory requirements.  You also work with other departments around the company to ensure they are working efficiently, and all working together to meet the company’s financial goals. 
As a member of the Operations Team, you will be a key member of the wider management team contributing to and helping to shape the company’s strategic and operational objectives and annual planning cycles, including ISO27:001 and Business Continuity Planning.
Responsible for:
•    Ensuring that financial operational activities are executed and delivered as per the standards set by the company and UK legislation
•    Develop and assist with operational initiatives to achieve financial goals 
•    Ensuring that Iken is compliant with relevant financial and statutory regulations 
•    Implementing and maintaining financial systems that record and report on financial activities and provide information and projections to allow strategic and operational decision-making. This includes management accounts, budgets and forecasts and reports on activity for Iken Business 
•    Approval of third-party payments through accurate reconciliation of financial records 

Primary Objectives:
•    Act as the main point of contact for addressing any inquiries and questions related to financial operations 
•    Manage account payables and receivables activity 
•    Regularly review finance operations, systems and processes 
•    Develop and maintain financial statements for future reference 
•    Support the development of the annual budget and subsequent quarterly forecasts in conjunction with the CEO and ensure the ongoing adherence and management of these budgets & forecasts 
•    Work closely with the Finance & Office Manager to manage invoices raised and received, client income and debt, credit card management and reconciliation, as well as general cash flow 
•    Monitor and manage invoice payments to third parties 
•    Ensure VAT returns are completed on a timely basis, and payments are made in accordance with the agreed schedule 
•    Ensure all taxes, revenues and filings are paid and updated as required
•    Manage the ongoing relationship with Kilsby & Williams to ensure the formal annual accounts are created and submitted to Companies House 
•    Working with the Finance & Office Manager and the Projects Team Leader to complete monthly SIP reconciliations 
•    Management & maintenance of payroll system
•    Running monthly payroll in conjunction with the HR Advisor 
•    Management of company pension scheme 
•    Management of online banking through NatWest 
•    Processing of expense claims 
•    Management of financial suppliers

Skills and Experience:
•    5 Years’ experience in a Finance Manager or similar role 
•    A practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques
•    Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices
•    Solid IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packages
•    A strong understanding of tax codes and laws
•    Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports
•    In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
•    Extensive knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles and systems
•    Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•    Knowledge and experience in handling financial statutory and legal requirements (including pensions, payroll, tax rules and insurance)
•    Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the Directors, as well as other individuals around the company 
•    ACCA/CIMA qualification (or similar) desirable but not essential
•    Evidence of ability to implement/manage financial programmes/software (Sage50, Sage Intacct, Xledger)
