JOB TITLE: Financial Controller
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer
ROLE PURPOSE:
lead the financial control function, developing a high performing finance team and ensuring that financial systems, processes and controls fit the needs of an ambitious, growing business, including all aspects of financial control, reporting, and tax
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leading the financial control function, building a high performing Finance team who are highly engaged with business stakeholders and ensuring that the team effectively support the delivery of the company’s strategy;
· Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business context and internal customer needs;
· Overseeing all financial control activities, e.g., month-end close process, preparation and review of management accounts, comprehensive balance sheet substantiation;
· Continually improving business processes that will ultimately drive efficiencies and improve margins;
· Managing the Airport’s internal and external financial reporting processes; ensuring that financial reports provide insightful performance information to stakeholders (from Board-level to budget holders), are delivered on time, are accurate and ultimately assist the commercial decision-making process to meet our business strategy;
· Leading the preparation of the statutory accounts and managing the year end external audit process, ensuring that recommendations from internal and external audits are implemented;
· Developing, operating, and maintaining a robust suite of financial controls, ensuring that controls are documented and operate effectively to improve the overall control environment, and can be relied upon for external audit purposes;
· Managing and developing the Finance team, promoting a strong customer service ethos and high professional standards in line with our company values.
· Managing the Company’s tax affairs and use of external tax advisors;
· Analysing, redesigning, and recommending improvements to finance processes by leveraging latest thinking and technology, including optimisation of the Company’s finance systems.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
· Strong academic background educated to degree standard;
· Fully qualified ACA accountant with multiple years’ post qualification experience in a finance leadership role, within a rapidly changing organisation;
· High levels of integrity and the ability to work and manage confidential information is a prerequisite;
· Strong communication skills to interpret finance data and processes for non- financial colleagues;
· A “roll your sleeves up” attitude is needed to align with our company values for a one team approach;
· Demonstrable leadership and people management skills, ideally gained in a variety of management roles, with a track record of leading and inspiring teams;
· Experience of managing the year end audit process;
· Extensive, up to date knowledge of corporate reporting and taxation regulations and legislation;
· Highly IT literate with experience of optimising the use of financial systems, processes and controls.
Desirable
· Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Workday Adaptive Planning;
· Experience in an infrastructure business.
