We’re looking for somebody with a passion for innovation and excellence in supporter care to proudly represent our charity amongst businesses and community organisations.

The Role:

Working collaboratively in a small team of Supporter Engagement Officers, the post holder will be jointly responsible for development and delivery of community and corporate engagement initiatives surprising and delighting individuals, businesses and community groups, along with the development of our campaigns programme. The post holder will provide outstanding donor care and an unforgettable experience of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA). This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week) with hybrid working available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Devise, implement and manage community and corporate based engagement activities and events that raise the profile of HIOWAA and lead to increasing levels of public support.
  • Actively acquire new community, corporate and individual supporters using a planned process of cultivation, conversion, and stewardship.
  • Research and make applications to corporate supporters and groups and manage that relationship to maximise engagement and income.
  • Identify opportunities to create new engaging campaigns through targeted research and proposition development.
  • Deliver tailored, confident, and engaging presentations suited to a variety of audiences effectively conveying a compelling case for support.
  • Identify and refer Trusts and Foundations, Major Donors and Legators to the charity’s Development Team.
  • Working collaboratively with the Supporter Engagement and Marketing teams, contribute to wider development by using personal initiative and experience to generate new engagement products.
  • Be accountable for raising income in line with business requirements and regularly reviewing the community, corporate and event acquisition plans and KPI’s to ensure that activity supports the charity’s targets.
  • Organise acquisition and donor care events (in-person and online), showcasing the service and encouraging a deeper connection to the cause.
  • Monitor the success of all relationships based on engagement with the communities we serve, financial return, referrals to the Development Team, and visibility of our brand.
  • Attend networking events, community group meetings and other events to raise the profile of and secure support for the charity.
  • Ensure that all donors receive timely and relevant charity updates and thanks, and that all scheduled communications add value to the relationship.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers and the volunteer team to ensure adequate support for fundraising activity and outreach opportunities.
  • Respond appropriately to all queries, providing information, advice, support and materials quickly and efficiently and keeping accurate records.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant charity legislation, including the Fundraising Code of Practice.
  • Manage financial and supporter records through the HIOWAA CRM database, ensuring information recorded is accurate, compliant, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain efficient and effective communications when carrying out all acknowledgements, thank you letters, and other correspondence.
  • The nature of the duties may change and develop, according to the needs of the team. This will require a flexible and adaptable approach.

  • Strong interpersonal, networking and influencing skills with the ability to deliver engaging, professional presentations, talks and deliver pitches on behalf of HIOWAA. 
  • The ability to provide information and engagement solutions appropriate to the audience being addressed.
  • A creative, imaginative approach to supporter engagement - providing ideas and solutions to suit different community members, groups, and campaigns.
  • Experience of maximising opportunities by using networking, communication and influencing skills.
  • A solid understanding of modern engagement techniques, including digital engagement and interaction, gained either in a fundraising role or as a charity supporter or volunteer.
  • Numeracy and analytical skills with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience of using a CRM database to maximum effect
  • Good working knowledge of the Fundraising Code of Practice
  • A willingness to complete training to maintain skills and competencies appropriate for the role.
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.
  • A full, clean UK recognised Driving Licence.
