Job description

Company Description
Helping over ten million people around the world manage their savings, retirement plans, and life insurance requires a talented and diverse team behind-the-scenes. It's up to us in Legal & General (L&G) Group Functions to provide the essential support services that all areas of the business need, here in the UK and overseas. Simply put, we enable everyone at L&G to do what they do best. That means we're helping to improve our customers' lives and contributing to the success of the business every day.
Job Description
The Group Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing is instrumental in delivering plans to make L&G more diverse, more inclusive, and a place where everyone can thrive. We seek someone with experience delivering practical improvements to organisations, their workforces, or cultures. Whilst we need someone who can set agendas and influence, this role is also hands-on and practical.
We welcome candidates returning from a career break to apply for this role. Successful returner candidates will join the L&G Returner Programme and will be provided with transition support including a mentor, buddy and Career Returner Coaching Programme delivered by Career Returners.
Your key responsibilities in this role will be:
  • Lead the Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing (DI&W) team at L&G, with end-to-end responsibility for defining, iterating, and implementing the strategy, aligned with the organisation's ambitions and goals.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for a range of internal and external stakeholders including L&G's Group Board, Executive Teams, HRDs, Senior Leaders, as well as investors and ratings agencies. Use your influence to shape the right agenda and approach, and have regular engagement with the Board, preparing and delivering Board papers.
  • Work with Group D&I Executive Sponsor, Senior Executives nominees to the Group D&I Council, and divisional exec D&I Sponsors, to effectively execute D&I plans across the business.
  • Own the linkage between DI&W and how they contribute to L&G's overall culture. Build consistent messaging to explain how and why DI&W matter and creates commercial value for the firm.
  • Lead the delivery of plans to deliver improvements to workforce diversity and wider culture. Collaborate with other teams to deliver initiatives, while using data and insight to understand and resolve issues.
  • Shape and support L&G's active employee networks and groups. Support the development and implementation of DI&W policy, testing where needed with different groups across the firm.
  • Own the definition of DI&W key performance indicators and provides regular progress reporting to internal and external audiences.
