Essential
· Accounting at a senior level and supporting senior management for at least 2 years
· Experience of Financial Accounting, Management Reporting and Treasury
· Strong Finance Systems experience
· At least 5 years of staff management and appraisals
· Taking the lead on statutory accounts and related audit papers preparation
· Lead in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
· Write and present financial performance to a board or governing body
Desirable
· Experience of payroll processes
· Experience of implementing new Finance systems
· Experience of using MS Business Central
· Previously worked in a Charity, SME or NFP

The Head of Finance will manage the end-to-end Finance Function and Finance Team, have a can do, results driven approach. The HoF will support SMT in straegic planning and forecasting, and support operational managers manage their budgets.
This role will act as the face of Finance at Midland Mencap to external stakeholders, lead and continue to develop the finance team and report directly to the CEO.
Ideal candidate will be
An experienced, qualified Finance professional with over 5 years of experience at Manager level
Have at least 2 years’ experience of managing a small multi-disciplinary finance team.
Proactive, flexible and collaborative
Personable, friendly and customer focused.
Have excellent experience of Finance systems and wider IT systems.
Have strong excel spreadsheet and MS office skills
Job description
As Head of Finance, you will:
Manage the end-to-end Finance function
Provide monthly management accounts to report on business performance to both internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to organisational strategic planning. Formulate and review the organisation’s medium to long term financial plan in line with organisational strategy.
Provide financial insight to the decision-making process and make recommendations to leadership teams that will lead to cost reduction, revenue generation and efficiency for both existing and new activities.
Be involved in setting the organisational and various departmental business strategies and monitor their financial progress and impacts.
Lead in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
Manage and review the financial systems and processes.
Lead year end auditing processes.
Prepare consolidated SORP statutory accounts of Midland Mencap and its subsidiary.
Attend audit clearance meetings
Report to the board of trustees of Midland Mencap, BMC and PML.
Lead, manage, motivate and support a high performing finance team.
Oversee and authorise payroll.
Review finance manual, policies and internal controls.
Lead on all finance related governance issues.
Ensuring that the various internal and external stakeholders receive informative reports that are relevant to their needs.
Investment planning, reviews and ongoing monitoring of invested funds.
Lead on Tax reviews, submission and reporting.
Model operation/project scenarios to determine the relevant performance indicators which will be monitored to ensure delivery of set strategic goals and feed into day-to-day Finance team tasks.
Working with SMT to manage financial risk.
Performance review of Financial Accountant.
Carry out company secretary duties as required from time to time.
Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time by the Chief Executive.
