We have a leadership opportunity for a Head of Tax to manage the tax affairs of the Corporation and the oversight of the tax affairs of its subsidiaries.

The function relating to this role of Head of Tax has been designated by Lloyd’s as a key function under regulatory requirements prescribed by the PRA and FCA as part of the Senior Insurance Managers regime. Therefore, the holder of this role is a key function performer and is required to meet prescribed FCA and PRA conduct standards which will be separately provided to the holder for information.

Our leadership expectations for the Head of Tax are:
• Contribute to an open and transparent culture of risk management and demonstrate a strong awareness of the risks that should be managed within the responsibilities of the role
• Deliver responsibilities in line with all relevant risk appetites, policies, reporting and when applicable, membership on or input to Lloyd’s risk committees
The principal accountabilities for the Head of Tax are:
• To manage the tax affairs of the Corporation, in particular, to ensure compliance with tax legislation, producing accurate and timely tax returns and tax journals for financial statements. To be responsible for ensuring “no surprise” tax results for the Corporation’s tax reporting and tax filings
• To provide a cost-efficient tax service to the market and internal stakeholders, including central provision of premium tax and overseas income tax settlements where these are a valuable service to the market
• To file certain defined tax returns on behalf of members
• To keep the Executive Team apprised of any perceived divergence between the Corporation’s and its subsidiary’s appetite and actions contrary to the spirit (as well as the letter) of Tax law in any country
• To maintain effective relationships with tax authorities around the world to provide a foundation for discussions to manage members’ tax affairs and to represent members’ best interests in emerging tax compliance and policy matters to help ensure the attractiveness of the Lloyd’s market to all participants
• To support and defend Lloyd’s licenses (existing and prospective) with timely tax advice which identifies and mitigates tax risk and to be responsible for taking steps (including liaising with local tax authorities if appropriate) to ensure, so far as possible, that tax rules work in the context of Lloyd’s structure

Professional Qualification:
• Accounting / tax qualification (ACA / CTA / Fully Trained Inspector of Taxes or equivalent)
