Contract: Full time - Permanent
Location: One of the council hubs across North Yorkshire and York (Northallerton, Scarborough, Skipton, Harrogate and Selby) with hybrid working and some travel around the county.
Would you like to be an integral part of our innovative and very respected Health and Safety Advisory Service? As a member of the management team of a large Shared Health Safety Service delivering a Health and Safety competence person role to North Yorkshire Council, City of York Council, several council owned companies, trusts, schools and other educational establishments. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference.
The role
Due to the imminent retirement of one our Health and Safety managers we are now looking for a Health and Safety Risk Manager. This is exciting time to join the service as the recently created North Yorkshire Council, one of the largest unitary authorities in the country, develops. As our Health and Safety Risk Manager you will be one of several specialist managers driving Health and Safety direction. You will be required to work across the North Yorkshire region to support senior managers to develop Health and Safety strategies for their departments and monitor how this has been effectively implemented. We also provide services to other clients so you will be able to adapt solutions to means their needs. The nature of role will be extremely varied however, knowledge and/or experience of children’s services such as social care and/or housing services would be an advantage.

To be successful in the post you will be a qualified, experienced Health and Safety professional (with a minimum L6 H&S qualification or equivalent with equivalence we expect you will either a Certified or working towards being certified practitioner with IOSH. We do recognise the IOSH experiential route). You must have experience of delivering a competent person role in an organisation.

The region covered by the shared service includes North Yorkshire which as England’s largest county, contains the stunning Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks, three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Pennines and a picturesque coastline around Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Whilst we are offering the post on a full or term time only basis we would consider applications on a part time basis.
