Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our client's dynamic team. This role presents a unique opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the well-being of employees and fostering a culture of safety excellence within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental management systems, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Uttoxeter
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Provide expert guidance and support to all levels of the organization on matters relating to health, safety, and environmental management.
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, preparing reports and recommendations for senior management to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with department managers and staff to foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, driving initiatives to achieve and maintain accreditation.
- Conduct regular training and toolbox talks to enhance employee awareness and understanding of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of developments in HSE legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, implementing changes as necessary to enhance organizational safety standards.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a health and safety role within the engineering industry.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, with a demonstrable track record of implementation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Proactive and results-oriented approach, with a passion for promoting a culture of safety excellence.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
