We’re currently recruiting for a HIA Technician to support the Home Improvement Agency team with the delivery of disabled facilities grants for private and public sector disabled adaptions as part of the Home Improvement Agency Team. You will develop and maintain strong client relationships and focus on the four main areas: customer satisfaction, quality control, following legislation for DFG’s and local policies and providing support and advice.
The key purpose of this position is to work and support the surveyors dealing with disabled adaption cases, contractors and partner agencies to create a safe working environment and ensuring that teams are compliant with the appropriate legislation.
As the HIA Technician you will be responsible for:
Providing feasibility and working drawings for various schemes and submitting plans and applications to Development control for planning permission and Building Regulation approval as required.
Carrying out site visits to ensure work is of a high standard, on time and to specification
Undertaking full measured surveys of properties with which the Department is involved
Assisting the surveyors in producing specifications based on technical advice and guidance in respect of building materials for building control and planning requirements
Interpreting and apply the effective implementation of new legislation, policies, and procedures within the sector
Applying the relevant legislation to cases referred to the team to ensure they are eligible for support and/or grants, be the signatory for SMBC grant approval.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A HNC in construction or have equivalent relevant experience of CAD design and planning and building control requirements.
Experience of working alongside contractors to achieve high standards of work and value for money, whilst working safely.
Have the ability to carry out feasibility surveys and feedback proposals to a non-technical audience
Strong building knowledge to design projects to meet the end users’ needs while meeting all the relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
Excellent IT skills in relation to the office environment (Office 365, excel, word) and with specialist systems such as Civica APP.
