Here at Team Educate, we are in search of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within one of our partner schools in the Tyseley area. This is an excellent opportunity that comes at a great time to join this new Independent Special School which is in a period of growth due to the opening of a second site later this month. You will be benefit from the support of a hands-on and supportive leadership team who look forward to welcoming new members of the team.
As a HLTA, your day will be varied and interesting and you will support teaching staff by assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of learning materials for the bespoke curriculums they offer as part of the effective alternative education provision intended to get their pupils back on track - academically, socially and emotionally! You will use your knowledge of best practice in SEN settings to implement effective strategies to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs, placing a large focus on creating and maintaining positive relationships and a nurturing environment for pupils who have become disengaged from education.
This role is full-time across five days per week (Monday-Friday) however, if you are seeking a part-time opportunity, we would be happy to discuss this with you. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential as part of a team which values creativity, innovation and commitment to positive outcomes for all.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the School Leaders and teaching staff in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
- To support the Class Teacher with the planning and preparation of differentiated classroom materials, working to bespoke curriculums individualised for the learning needs of each pupil.
- To support positive working relationships with the pupils - building trust, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- To support pupils with Special Educational Needs through the delivery of specific and bespoke learning programmes to contribute to setting out individual education plan targets and reviews.
- To monitor and evaluate pupils' responses to learning activities and note progress towards targets.
- To advance learning when working with individuals, small groups and whole classes without the presence of the assigned Teacher.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience of working as a HLTA within a primary, secondary or SEN setting
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
- A recognised and relevant qualification, such as Level 4 NCFE CACHE 'Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools'
