We are seeking an experienced HR Manager for our client based in Canterbury. This is a contract position for 9 months, with potential to increase to 12 months. The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of Human Resource, focusing on Employee Relations. This will include recruitment, performance management, training and development and compliance with laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management and possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Employee Relations
Providing an operational HR service to managers and employees, across 3 UK sites, 2 overseas sites and home-based staff.
Acting as the lead on sickness absence monitoring and the production of relevant reports.
Providing advice and guidance on employee relations and legal issues in consultation with solicitors and other advisory bodies (as appropriate).
Interpreting and applying terms and conditions of service and employment legislation as well as handling casework, including disciplinary/grievance hearings, leading on managing restructures and sickness absence monitoring to ensure legal compliance.
Recruitment
Acting as a mentor for the HR Adviser on recruitment and routine employee relations matters.
Maintaining an overview of recruitment activity
General
Developing and implementing policies, as requested by the HR Director.
Assisting with projects as requested by the HR Director.
Assisting new managers in understanding their roles and responsibilities in people management.
Providing support and advice to the HR team in issuing non-standard appointment letters; terms & conditions; salary change letters.
Responsibility for providing management information as required by the HR Director and/or other senior staff.
Checking of payroll figures on a monthly basis.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of appropriate staff development e.g. manager briefings.
Management
Providing support (including line managing) to the HR team in the absence of the HR Director.
Providing cover across the range of HR disciplines in the absence of the HR Director.
Regular monitoring and reporting of status of all current and potential ER issues as well as restructures to the HR Director.
This is a full-time position, with the possibility of hybrid working.
