Overall Job Purpose
To lead the HR operation within CHAP covering all aspects of HR and supporting Learning and Development requirements to ensure that managers receive timely proactive, professional and business focused HR guidance. The HR manager will also manage the day to day operations, administration, policies and procedures of HR within CHAP overseeing our HRIS and flagging changes in employment law and best practice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Policies: develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that reflect organisational values, current legislation and best practice.
- Performance: coordinate the Performance Review cycle helping to ensure employees and managers meet up regularly as per the Performance Review timetable whilst identifying and appropriately resolving issues.
- Personnel Issues: support managers with case work providing objective advice and guidance, helping them to follow the correct processes and ensuring that full audit trails are always maintained.
- Remuneration and Reward: maintain a holistic overview of the reward and remuneration process and support the Executive management team in planning annual pay reviews and ensuring a fair and competitive strategy is maintained.
- HR Strategy: Support development of a coherent HR strategy that promotes effective people management, development, engagement and retention. Develop and cost strategy elements and work with relevant departments to implement them.
- Recruitment: manage a structured approach capable of attracting the most suitable candidates and an objective selection process to measure the fit of candidates to role. Presenting a positive and professional image of CHAP across all contact points in the recruitment process. Continual on-boarding and induction procedures.
- Wellbeing, Health & Safety: implement policies to identify and effectively manage health and wellbeing. Establish and maintain effective relationship with Occupational Health services. Management of risk assessment process.
- HR Reporting: management of the HR system that records the necessary information to support other necessary systems (e.g. payroll) and provide reliable and timely information to managers and the Executive team (e.g. absence statistics).
- Employee Communications: manage an effective employee communication programme, including effective use of staff survey data.
- Employee Engagement: develop a plan to improve or maintain staff engagement levels and introduce effective measurement.
- Organisational Design & Development: support the delivery of organisational change initiatives and supporting managers through these initiatives.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a HR Manager or HRBP
- CIPD qualification level 5 (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on case work experience with detailed knowledge of employment law
- Experience drafting policies and procedures
- Familiarity with business software such as Microsoft Office365, HR software, Salesforce or another CRM
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
- Effective team-working skills
- Ability to multi-task but remain detail-orientated
- Sound time management skills
- Professional and discreet
- Assertive and able to effectively engage people
- Ability to apply sound judgement and identify and appropriately manage risk
- Experience in an Agri-tech environment preferred but not essential
