Crestwood Community School is one school, with two campuses serving central Eastleigh. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious person as a Teacher of ICT, Computer Science and/or Business Studies to start in September 2024. ICT, Computing and Business Studies sits within the Technology Faculty. The Faculty pride themselves on having an innovative and forward thinking curriculum. Practical work is at the heart of everything and the Faculty’s vision centres on giving students the skills and experiences they need so that they can be successful in the wider world beyond school.
ICT is taught throughout all year groups at Crestwood. At Key Stage 3, we offer students project based activities which make up part of the National Curriculum Computing strategy. This covers a wide and varied breadth of topics including Computational Thinking, Use of Data, Creative, E-Safety and the Use of Technology in Wider Society. At Key Stage 4, students can choose GCSE Computer Science or BTEC Creative Media Production. Students who choose not to take up an ICT option subject undertake Core ICT as part of their development of vital skills for life and for the workplace.
Within the faculty we also offer BTEC Enterprise (Business). This is a popular course which enables learners to develop entrepreneurial skills to start and run a business or social enterprise through a practical and skills-based approach to learning.
The faculty is incredibly well resourced across both campuses with specialist ICT suites and up to date Software. The school has developed extensively its use of the Google Suite, both as a platform for e-learning and an effective means of communication and storing, assigning and submitting work.
In ICT & Computing at Key Stage 3, students will have 75 minutes of ICT time every fortnight. They undertake a wide range of topics within the National Curriculum Computing Strategy, including Computational Thinking, Using Data, Creative Graphic Design Web Design, E-Safety, Cyber Security and the Use of ICT in Society and the Wider World. Topics are often project based to provide a real-world feel. At Key Stage 4, students get the opportunity to take GCSE Computer Science or BTEC Creative Media Production as an option subject. However, within our ethos to constantly find the most innovative and dynamic curriculum mix, we are always looking at the merits of new courses.
Business Studies is a massively popular option subject at Key Stage 4, with students able to opt for the BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise. In Design & Technology, students have 75 minutes of subject time a week at Key Stage 3 and complete subject rotations in the specialisms: Resistant Materials, Textiles, Food and Graphics. At Key Stage 4, they can opt for GCSE Design & Technology or GCSE Food and Nutrition.
