How you'll make a difference
As aPrincipal ProductManager, you will be part of a focused and innovative team working on exciting solutions and projects.
You’ll make a difference by playing a key role in designing and delivering digital solutions that will make a difference for council key workers and our customers and service users across South Gloucestershire.
What you will be doing?
Working collaboratively, you will build relationships with business Service Owners to ensure the product backlog is prioritised, sprint outputs are reviewed, and business value is delivered against the organisation’s strategic aims. You will also work with Technical Delivery Managers to ensure wider governance and stakeholder communication is effective.
Supporting the team, you will work with others to ensure user stories are user centred and meet the business objectives that deliver value for money. You will work across and within our Agile Development teams and support them in effective delivery.
Your days will be made up of working on discrete pieces of work, as set by you on the product backlog and business stakeholders, working with business analyst, suppliers, developers and testers.
Examples of the types of work could include:
- Creating or redesigning children’s social care forms, workflow.
- Set up of payment and billing across children’s, education for providers, settings and service users.
- Challenging business wants to focus instead on user needs and outcomes.
What we need from you
- You will have a degree or relevant qualifications, or demonstrable industry experience and expertise from a business analysis or product management background in a technology-driven context.
It is essential that you have experience both establishing and applying strategy, patterns, standards, and policies for design of digital services. Also, you should be able to confidently challenge these and provide guidance to others that need to use them in their own work.
We require you to have experience understanding business problems and producing viable and appropriate designs in response (customer journey and business process).
You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing and explanation of technical information to non-technical audiences.
It is important that you have experience leading and mentoring more junior members of a team in this area of specialism.
You must have experience shaping a multidisciplinary agile development team and using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira to manage a Product Roadmap, Product Backlog and generate useful metrics about product delivery.
- Experience working in local authority setting, particularly children or adult social care, with case management systems is desirable.
