A workplace where you can proudly be yourself; our people make Sky a truly exciting and inclusive place to work. Sky has embarked on a journey to bring information governance, storage, retention and disposal together under the umbrella of a holistic Information Management program to achieve more than just compliance with regulatory requirements: to drive business value.
You are an experienced Information Management or Data Governance professional with a passion for data. You are a well-organised individual who enjoys solving complex problems and has the desire to make a meaningful impact. You are comfortable with working in detail and complexity, while also being able to understand the bigger picture.

You understand the benefits an effective Information Management strategy and are fully aware that a well organised and connected IM function, supported by holistic information management processes, will deliver much more than just better information storage and that it can help transform the way business decisions are made.
As a core member of the team, you will help ensure that information is available to the right people, at the right time, to enable the right processes and to support better business decisions. You are fully focused on the team’s deliverables and benefits the function will be able to achieve and this motivates you to get things done.
As an Information Analyst, you will report to Sky’s Senior Information Management Lead and work in a dynamic team focused on designing, building and delivering the right solution to the wider business. You will work closely with stakeholders right across the business including Data Management and Data Privacy professionals and other interested parties involved in the Information Management lifecycle.
You will be highly approachable and flexible during the assessment of the “as is” position and work with multiple stakeholders at all levels to define, shape and roll out Sky’s future Information Management solution. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is used to putting the customer at the heart of the business processes they are involved in. This is a diverse and varied role, which not only offers exposure to stakeholders at all levels and right across Sky’s business but also provides great insight into the way Sky operates.
What you’ll do:
  • Work with business and technology stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify the sources and origin, types, formats, and quality of data and information present as well as the stakeholders, users and beneficiaries;
  • Determine the consumers and whether relevant rules are in place to govern the IM lifecycle;
  • Identify business users’ IM needs and translate their requirements into designs and data flows that can be delivered to meet their needs;
  • Identify and apply applicable regulatory or legal retention rules and propose internal retention rules for data and information assets where this does not apply;
  • Stakeholder management: align data content to business requirements and visualise insight findings with a clear narrative and actionable recommendations;
  • Use tools and conduct interviews to determine and validate use cases and identify anomalies such as duplication;
  • Contribute to the development of an Information Risk framework and apply this against the information instances identified to ensure corrective action is taken on a risk and exposure basis;
  • Extract information from data repositories for detailed inspection and analysis and to identify correlations and patterns;
  • Develop and maintain information governance controls and documentation for information sharing and data processing activities;
  • Maintain Sky’s information governance accountability documentation, including registers of information assets;
  • Respond to internal requests for guidance on information and liaise with the wider business and data community to ensure consistency; and
  • Provide training and assistance to users tasked with specific IM roles and responsibilities.
What you’ll bring:
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
  • Strong IT and mathematical skills;
  • Some experience in data modelling, data warehousing, or database design;
  • Prior experience of governing information in structured and unstructured systems;
  • Attention to detail when working with data in order to draw accurate conclusions;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings with stakeholders;
  • A solid understanding of data sources, data organisation and storage;
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, etc., and
  • Sound understanding of data management principles including ‘data lineage’ (the process of understanding, recording, and visualizing data as it flows from data sources to consumption) and ‘metadata’ (the data that describes other data, providing a structured reference that helps to sort and identify attributes of the information it describes).
