This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Governance Department as the Museum’s Information Governance Officer.
With an eye for detail and excellent communication skills, the Information Governance Officer is responsible for responding to information requests made under freedom of information and data protection law. Additionally, the role supports the Information Governance Manager in helping the Museum to meet its Information Governance duties through the delivery of advice, strategic workstreams and museum-wide training.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wishes to develop their skills and experience within the area of Information Governance.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Discharging the duties of the Freedom of Information Officer, in accordance with the requirements of freedom of information law and in line with the established internal process for monitoring, responding to and recording information requests.
- Responding to all other information related requests, including data subject rights and third-party requests, under data protection law.
- Providing advice and assistance to stakeholders on all aspects of Information Governance, including data protection advice in line with the Museum’s policies and standards.
- Working with the Information Governance Manager to deliver the Museum’s Information Governance Strategy. This will involve working with stakeholders from across the Museum to assist them to meet the Museum’s legal obligations.
- Increasing Museum-wide acceptance, understanding and adherence to data protection, freedom of information, information security and records management principles through implementing and running in-house training, as well as other initiatives.
About you:
With a degree or equivalent experience, you will have a good working knowledge of freedom of information law and/or UK data protection law. You will have demonstrable experience in a similar environment with strong stakeholder management skills. You will be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail who thrives in a team environment, working with stakeholders from across the organisation and to tight deadlines.
While experience in the area of information management will be taken into consideration, we are looking for a self-motivated candidate who will be excited by the opportunity to develop and grow your skills within Information Governance.
