Interim Communications Lead

Rate: Negotiable hourly rate

Hours: Part time, 22hrs per week

Duration: 3 months initially (likely to extend)

Our client is currently seeking an Interim Communications Lead to ensure a strategic approach to PR and comms is taken across the organisation and to lead in the development of the communications & consultation strategy to help create a positive profile and reputation for at least the next 3 months.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively deploying relevant resources across the team to ensure the delivery of business and service plans and accepting responsibility for these to Senior Managers.
• Prepare appropriate responses to media enquiries, prepare press releases and arrange interview opportunities- this includes advising on high level.
• Lead the organisation’s work in improving the way it communicates internally and externally with the public, staff and service users. This includes, but is not limited to: staff newsletter, fund raisers, branding, annual shows.
• Develop marketing and communication activities with the aim of promoting the organisation’s services and encouraging the understanding, support and involvement of residents, visitors and business community.
• Provide technical support and advice to officers and services to drive digital channel shift.
• Build short to long term communication plans including social media and messaging content and develop methods to measure the success of these as well as maintaining other agreed metrics.
• Analyse and present key findings from consultation activities via reports and presentations.

Requirements:

• Experience in Communications, writing press releases and social media essential
• Experience and knowledge of marketing and communications techniques
• Desirable understanding of local authorities and the political environment
