Can you lead a team of 8 IT specialists who provide industry-leading technologies (hardware and software solutions) to internal and external customers?
The IT Operations Lead role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to improve business efficiency and productivity through innovative and quality IT systems: designing, developing, maintaining, and improving all hardware and networking infrastructure.
The day-to-day role will involve serving internal customers support requests and tracking issues via a ticket logging system. The wider role will involve working on exciting new projects, using a variety of technologies to come up with innovative new solutions to problems and ideas.
The IT Operations Lead will be responsible for:
- Day-to-day coordination and supervision of the IT Support team
- Maximising uptime of all hardware and network infrastructure, and availability of business services
- Producing specifications for and implementing new or modified hardware and network infrastructure systems
- Second/third line support of hardware and network infrastructure systems and client-level hardware and software
- Designing and participating in cyber security risk management activities (Disaster Planning, Vulnerability/Penetration Testing, Risk Assessments, Preventative Maintenance)
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of all networking equipment, including but not limited to routers, firewalls, and switches.
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of client devices and physical and virtualised servers, databases, and storage
- Configuration and maintenance of all aspects of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of service packs and security patches
The critical technologies for this role are:
- VMware
- HP Nimble / SAN Storage
- FortiGate firewalls / but skills could be transferable from Cisco products
- Veeam Backup software
- Network skills as they have multiple connected sites
The core skills for this role are:

- Full UK/EU driving licence - Regular travel to local production sites
This role would suit a strong technical skilled 3rd line engineer looking for to step up into a team lead role.
