IT Support Technician 

£28000 per annum + 10% uplift for unsociable hours (£2800) + London weighting (£4000)
London - Tower Hill Study Centre
Hours - 12pm - 8:30pm (Tuesday - Friday), 9am - 2pm (Saturday)

The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Technician to support the IT at our Tower Hill study centre. Please only apply if you can commit to the above hours. 

  • Analysis and Reporting:
    • Undertake regular maintenance checks, updating records and taking corrective action.
    • Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and filing systems for accurate and accessible information.
    • Gather and manipulate routine data, reporting trends and anomalies.
  • Customer/Service Support:
    • Respond to customer enquiries, including complex queries, gathering and judging when to involve others.
    • Provide face-to-face and remote support to campus staff and students.
    • Manage user accounts, provide Audio Visual support, and assist with onboarding processes.
    • Contribute to a global knowledge base with instructional guides.
    • Manage support desk queues, providing technical support to both staff and students.
  • Planning and Organising:
    • Plan and prioritise work activities, responding to manager's/departmental requirements.
    • Support internal and external activities/events, including the installation and deployment of new devices.
  • Liaison:
    • Develop a network of contacts, communicate with service users, and liaise with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Relay customer feedback and contribute to proposals for improvements.
    • Keep skills up-to-date and contribute to the continuous development of IT services.
  • Personal and Professional Development and Training:
    • Identify and address development needs for continuing professional development.
    • Communicate and share best practices.
    • Proactively identify new opportunities and work with management to develop solutions.

About You:

We would like to hear from applicants who have:

Essential

  • Qualifications/Education:
    • Minimum (NVQ 2-3, City & Guild) or equivalent, plus some experience in a relevant role.
    • Considerable work experience in a relevant role or relevant life experience.
  • Skills/Training:
    • Proficient in using and supporting Microsoft operating systems and applications.
    • Comfortable explaining technical solutions to all levels of users within a business environment.
    • Demonstrable experience of using an ITSM ticketing system.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritise/reprioritise; may work on multiple issues simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience:
    • Experience of assessing and responding to technical issues.
    • Demonstrable excellent customer service provision.
    • Previous experience of providing training and/or creating documentation to support users.

Desirable

  • ITIL Qualifications.
  • Technical accreditations (e.g., Microsoft MCSA / Cisco CCNA / etc.)
  • Experience of working with Audio Visual equipment.
  • Experience working in the Higher Education sector.
  • Higher Education experience.
