What you'll do:
As a Junior Financial Controller, you will play an integral role within the finance department. Your primary responsibilities will include managing financial risks, supporting decision-making processes through the generation of insightful information, and planning and analysing business trends. You will be instrumental in driving forward improvements to budgeting, forecasting and rebilling processes. Additionally, you will take part in the operational work of the wider finance function, ensuring that financial risks are appropriately managed.
- Manage short- and medium-term budgeting of revenues, costs and balance sheet
- Lead on the annual review and revision of internal rebilling allocations
- Implement the agreed framework methodology for the internal rebilling allocations for the UK Branch
- Take responsibility for business cost control/monitoring, reporting and intragroup rebilling associated with UK Branch business lines on a monthly basis
- Serve as key point of contact for Group Finance, focusing on global alignment of P&L reporting methodology
- Participate in the operational work of the wider finance function, picking up additional tasks during colleagues' absence
- Ensure that financial risks are appropriately managed by identifying, measuring and reporting on financial risks
- Mitigate key person risk in relation to all of the above with particular focus on budgeting and rebilling
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Junior Financial Controller position is a qualified accountant with over three years post qualification experience. You should have at least two years' experience within the financial services sector and a proven track record of financial control in a medium to large group environment. A good understanding and working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and regulatory reporting is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also key, as you will be working with senior stakeholders and need to demonstrate effective teamwork. Proficiency in Excel, including basic data modelling, is required.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA , ACCA , CIMA or equivalent)
- 3+ years PQE with at least 2 years' experience within financial services
- Banking / Financial Services industry experience
- Proven experience of financial control in a medium/large Group environment
- Good understanding and working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles
- Good understanding and working knowledge of regulatory reporting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable experience of effective teamwork
- Strong Excel skills, including basic data modelling
- Ability to work under pressure to strict timelines
