Lead Controls & Instrument Engineer
£70K - £82K plus car bonus holidays - very competitive pension

To plan, control, coordinate and deliver the outage and routine maintenance activities required and to ensure adequate response to breakdown to maintain safe, compliant, commercial operation of the asset’s C&I plant & apparatus.
Devise and deliver the maintenance strategy for C&I plant & apparatus, to include support contracts and technical capabilities needed to meet or exceed the business plan.
Provide technical and engineering support within C&I area of expertise to all sites in UK.
Identify and put in place and manage support contracts required to deliver the maintenance strategy including supervision of contract resources.
Driving the development of the continuous improving safety culture on site and ensuring that all those who attend/work on any site understand our safety culture and align their behaviour to it.
Manage, optimise and utilise the CMMS (SAP PM) ensuring efficient management of maintenance work, including ensuring necessary stock items are available when required for maintenance and service.
Support cross-business networks to actively share C&I knowledge & best practice across the group.
Assist compliance with benchmarking exercises, reviews and audit processes to continually improve the health, safety, welfare and the operational performance of the site.
Audit effective use of work planning and asset maintenance systems on UK asset sites
Carry out effective liaison with operational staff
Manage the update process of engineering systems to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements; ensuring effective policies and procedures are in place to provide the business with adequate routine and preventative maintenance activities to give high levels of plant availability
Responsible for the review and update of strategic and critical spares holding, develop and update the long term strategy and costs for all major component replacement. Audit stock levels to ensure they are adequately maintained
Safety – Process safety and personnel safety during maintenance and operational adjustments. Ensuring safe practices in line with industry standards including HSE practices.
Financial – within budget management of contracts and orders. Responsible for developing and delivering the through-life engineering integrity strategies, through the asset engineering risks and opportunities process (AERO). This supports both assets and business planning. AERO Fund value £350k.
Leading and managing life extension works across CES Generation sites. Project/Programme activity, associated value of C&I works on life extension of over £2m. Delivering value through experiential knowledge, of technical complex and high risk contracts / projects.
Role Dimensions
Personal accountability for ensuring procurement and financial dealings are in line with company principles and compliant with company standards. Typical financial responsibility is £2m per year across core and capital expenditure
Takes the role of Sponsoring Manager, Engineering Representative and/or Responsible Engineer in CES and Generation and portfolio contracts as required. (up to the value of £15m)
Mitigate contractual spend through experiential knowledge of C&I and fault finding (expected value saved per annum £250k) including provision of in-house training (as opposed to outsourcing)
Direct communication and instruction with site / station managers for planning of work and agreeing scopes.
Direct management of site personnel and contractors for implementation of agreed works.
Direct communication with C & D-suite regarding risks and opportunities related to technical field.
Working alongside Group colleagues for consistent C&I systems management
Representing within industry wide technical forums, e.g. IET Forums,
Specialist knowledge with net-zero technologies, e.g. ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps, batteries, solar, electrolysers
Role Requirements

Essential
Control Engineering or Electrical/Electronic degree, or HNC with considerable industry experience.
Significant experience in Control engineering (in particular withing the power generation industry).
Have skills and knowledge that enable the role holder to act as a consultant on C&I Engineering across COMPANY.
Ability to manage large projects and work within multi-disciplinary teams.
Have a sound awareness of new developments and best practise in C&I engineering discipline area and uses this to benchmark own practices
Business financial awareness and experience of managing budgets
The ability to recognise and diagnose operational problems and take appropriate action
Develop and thoroughly manage larger/more complex contracts and resource
