Job description

Location: Ellacombe Church of England Academy (Learning Academy Partnership)

Required as soon as possible.

The Learning Academy Partnership have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join our Trust, based at Ellacombe Church of England Academy. Ellacombe is at the heart of our local community and is located close to the centre of Torquay; over the years we have developed a strong reputation for being a supportive and caring school which fully understands the needs of our children and their families. Our wonderful pupils are at the absolute centre of our work and all our colleagues are dedicated to the development of our pupils in the fullest sense possible; we pride ourselves on putting children first in every aspect of school life.

Our Christian vision for our academy is: ‘He came so that they might have life and live it to the full’ (John 10:10)

This manifests itself within our school as: Together, we take steps towards a brighter future.

We aim to provide the rich soil that enables our children to develop deep roots and flourish. Within our distinctive community, our Christian school nurtures growth, giving courage to face challenges, and abundant opportunities for unique strengths to blossom. We believe that through instilling and modelling our school values of Love, Stewardship, Hope, Trust, and Perseverance, we enable all of our pupils to strive towards a Flourishing Future.

This is an incredibly rewarding role where you will work alongside a highly passionate team to ensure children are cared for, inspired, and challenged. The role involves developing positive and caring relationships with some of our most vulnerable pupils and would be ideal for someone who has a strong understanding of Attachment Theories and Trauma-Informed Approaches. Our ideal candidate will have experience supporting and nurturing the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and will be committed to making a profound difference to the lives of our most disadvantaged children.

If you are excited about this role but your past experiences looks a little different to what we’ve identified, we encourage you to apply anyway.  You may just be the perfect candidate!  We are looking for someone who is inspired by our Trust mission and is committed to making a profound difference to the lives of our children, especially the most disadvantaged.

We are proud to be a School Trust that nurtures, develops and supports our colleagues so that they can provide the very best for our children as reflected in our People Strategy. We encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the wider communities that we serve.  We champion diversity, inclusion and wellbeing and aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and a sense of belonging.

Our School Trust is underpinned by our four core beliefs; we are stronger together, a sense of belonging; removing barriers and realising the possible. This means that by working collectively, we can achieve our absolute best to ensure that children, especially the most vulnerable, can flourish. In short, our ethos is one of working together to Empower, Excel, Together.

We can offer you:
• The opportunity to make a profound difference to children’s lives
• A culture that takes work-life balance extremely seriously for all its colleagues
• The chance to work as part of a collective in a values-led school Trust, a single organisation
• High quality professional development and regular training
•  Access to nationally recognised Level 2 and 3 course and apprenticeships
• A strong, proactive wellbeing network across the School Trust
• The potential for future career development
• Access to a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme
• Trust benefit schemes including tech and cycle schemes
• Generous Local Government Pension Scheme

We want to support you in deciding if we are a School Trust that you would like to join. We strongly recommend that you arrange a visit or virtual call so that you can better understand if we are an organisation which excites you and can support you to flourish. Please contact Alison Helm – Headteacher to arrange an appointment.

The Learning Academy Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS disclosures are required for this post along with the other necessary checks. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
