Learning Technologist, Prestigious Education Establishment, Temporary, Central London, £21.00 ph plus holiday pay accrual. Assignment is to start as soon as possible and will last for two months.
Our client, a renowned Education Establishment, requires a Learning Technologist to support and pedagogic and technical guidance and encouragement to support staff and students in the use of technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment. This is a temporary position and represents a great opportunity.
The key responsibilities of the Learning Technologist are:
- Be main contact for matters relating to digital learning, teaching and assessment technologies
- Contribute to the ongoing technical and pedagogic development of the School’s VLE
- Design, run and evaluate staff development activities to support the pedagogic and technical use and impact of digital technologies for learning, teaching and assessment
- Support the School in using appropriate technologies to support student learning and creating online activities that deliver an engaging student digital learning experience
- Respond to staff and student technology-enhanced learning enquiries
- Design and create digital assets for learning, teaching and assessment, in line with School brand guidelines
- Support areas of digital learning technologies relevant to the School priorities
- Support with technical/pedagogical updates and enhancements to online learning materials
- Design, deliver and evaluate workshops for students to support the development of digital skills/literacies
- Undertake data analysis related to the use of digital learning technologies
- Keep up to date with learning technology developments in Higher Education
- Trouble-shoot issues related to digital learning, teaching and assessment; problem-solve and provide solutions
- Monitor the performance of digital learning approaches and suggest any necessary enhancements
- Pilot new technologies for teaching and learning
- Show initiative, working both independently and as part of a team to agreed deadlines
- Work collaboratively with staff to support digital learning, teaching and assessment at the School
- Contribute to digital learning projects and the broader activities of the department
- Attend external committees, meetings and groups relevant to the role
Personal Attributes
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience
- Evidence of professional development in learning technologies/VLEs e.g., attending webinars, network meetings, training, certifications
- Professional certification in education/learning technology
- Able to provide guidance/training to staff on the use of technologies to support learning and teaching
- Experience of creating digital learning and teaching assets/resources
- Expertise in providing technical and pedagogical support for VLEs, ideally Moodle
- Knowledge & Knowledge of VLEs for interactive learning and E Skills teaching
- Awareness of key principles of online learning, hybrid teaching and digital pedagogies
- Knowledge of technologies, for example but not limited to Poll Everywhere, Jamboard, Padlet and Zoom for learning, teaching and assessment
- Knowledge of digital accessibility legislation as applied to higher education
- Ability to trouble-shoot and respond promptly to technology-enhanced learning support requests.
- Ability to work in a highly organised manner and manage competing demands
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, inc. able to communicate technical knowledge to non-specialists
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, with colleagues of all backgrounds and levels
