We are looking for an experienced Legal Officer to join our busy Litigation team. The Litigation Team deals with civil and criminal litigation, licensing, employment and debt recovery.

You will deal with civil litigation, criminal litigation and traffic regulation matters from initial instruction to the conclusion of the matter, including civil claims for and against the council, prosecutions on behalf of the council, licensing and traffic regulation matters.

Your caseload will predominantly consist of civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on debt recovery; from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court, as well as assisting more senior lawyers on a range of general litigation matters.

The ideal candidate will have local government and advocacy experience, although we can provide training to those with other relevant experience. You must have the ability and willingness to assist on other areas covered by the team. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, are able to plan and organise your own workload with minimal supervision in a supportive environment. You must be able to work to tight court deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will be a strong team player, flexible, enthusiastic and committed.

The successful candidate will be part of a team which is based in an award winning office accommodation in the town centre which has undergone multi-million pound regeneration. Agile working is available, subject to business need.
