The combined staff in UCL LCCOS totals around 440.
The post-holder is one of a customer-facing team of Library Assistants working at the UCL Language & Speech Science (LaSS) Library. The UCL LaSS Library primarily serves staff, students and researchers in the Division of Psychology and Language Science and the Ear Institute. Subject coverage encompasses Audiology, Linguistics, Psychology & Language, and Speech Language Sciences. The collection includes unique collections of books, journals, clinical assessment tests and electronic resources.
About the role
The main purpose of the job is to assist with the provision of excellent customer services, and clerical support for library resources and facilities The post holder will also support a wide range of activities including the use of technology, social media, maintenance of the estate, and health & safety.
This role is only available to current UCL staff.
Special Working Conditions e.g manual handling is required to carry out this role. Training will be provided.
We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.
This is an on-campus role. It is not suitable for regular remote working.

About you
We are looking for candidates who in particular have the following experience and skills:
- Experience of working with the public and a commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Excellent IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Initiative and problem-solving; able to resolve problems and to identify solutions, sometimes without immediate supervision
- Excellent team working skills
- Understanding personal obligations to, and acting in accordance with UCL’s commitments to equity, inclusion and wellbeing
This role is part-time, the working hours are: Monday – Thursday 9am – 5.18pm (29.2 hours per week).
