Job Description
We're working with a leading superfood supplier who are going through an exciting transition as a business and looking for a new Managing Director to join the team. The role will be replacing the current MD and will involve leading a Senior team of FMCG professionals across all areas of the business from Commercial, Operations and Logistics through to Finance. This is an exciting position offering a vast amount of autonomy and the opportunity to drive the business forward.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a strong Commercial background in the FMCG industry who is looking for the next step into a Managing Director position or someone already proven as a Managing Director. You must also be a strong leader with the ability to influence and gain buy-in from your colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement the future growth strategy to win across retail and supply
- Define the “where to play” and “how to win” strategic choices across customer segments and missions to unlock sustainable, profitable revenue growth insight, competitor dynamics and industry trends
- Identify future opportunities in collaboration with the Leadership Teams and lead the deployment of these initiatives
- Set annual plans including resource allocation, financial budgets and individual target setting for the key areas of the business and personnel
- Ensure detailed implementation plans are developed with strong follow-up on execution through robust tracking and issue resolution
- Establish multi-functional end-to-end relationships with suppliers and partners
- Build effective relationships with Senior Leaders of the major Grocery channel
- Manage the P&L to realise or exceed annual financial objectives
- Lead delivery of revenue growth by ensuring structured deployment of agreed strategies
- Manage all financial investments to ensure annual profit objectives are delivered
- Lead performance management and forecasting routines to ensure in-year delivery and course-correction as required to meet revenue and profit targets
- Build, coach and lead an exceptional commercial team that is engaged, inclusive and high-performing
- Create a compelling vision with a strong sense of unity and desire to win together
- Recruit and coach team members who are commercially astute
- Co-develop with the Commercial Leadership Team a targeted learning and development approach that unlocks future business and personal potential for the team
- Foster collaboration throughout the organisation, understanding the benefit and importance of strong collaboration
What we're looking for

- Experience working across Retail, Supply and E-Commerce channels
- Utilise data and insight from across the market to shape a clear vision for the future
- Demonstrate best practice approaches to selling, negotiating and account planning that sets the bar for the wider Commercial team
- Set clear performance management frameworks and routines to ensure objectives are met, with escalation routes in place to resolve off-track issues
- A clear and structured communicator with a clear aptitude to listen and respond
- Able to adapt and engage different audiences
- Is a trusted advisor to Senior Stakeholders and teams around the business and with Senior external Stakeholders
- Empower managers below them to run a mature, high-performing team
- Proactively engages in the development, growth, and retention of people across both their team and wider business
- Demonstrates a growth mindset that embraces change and deploys best-practice approaches to win hearts and minds
- Ability to deliver change into the organisation with full buy-in
- A team player who readily collaborates cross-functionally and will sponsor or lead initiatives that drive an engaged, diverse and high-performing business
