About the role

This role is for current 2nd year undergraduate University of Derby Students Only

Join the Careers and Employment Service (CES) working to engage students and recent graduates about all things employability. Supporting communications to students and graduates either via online or through advertising in a variety of arenas. This includes creating content for student emails, developing and scheduling content for social media, and supporting with careers events.

The interview date for this role will be from 23/4/24.

The proposed start date is 29/7/24.

Principal accountabilities

  • Support with the delivery of marketing campaigns to engage students and graduates. This includes planning and developing content for emails, websites, blogs, videos and social media.
  • Using data from the careers registration and graduation surveys, create tailored communications for student and graduates to promote the relevant CES offer.
  • Have a good understanding of the CES offer and provide initial help and support to students and graduates by showcasing resources, and signposting students to the most appropriate service.
  • Represent and promote the CES through day-to-day activities, promoting the service to students and graduates at all opportunities. Suggest and explore new ways of increasing engagement with students and graduates.
  • Create a range of content for the CES social media channels. Schedule content and monitor the impact of posts. Identify social media trends and suggest areas of improvement.
  • Support with contacting students and recent graduates to gather case studies, testimonials and quotes. Collaborate with the wider team to create interesting content using student success stories.
  • Support with careers and employability events, engaging in the planning process as part of the events weekly meeting, promotion of the events and attending events to represent CES.
  • Raise awareness of the Graduate Outcomes survey with students and recent graduates. Ensure that the importance and timescales of the survey are embedded in the key messages.
  • Support the College Careers Partners to deliver agreed college specific projects, this may include specific communications strategies for colleges or departments.
  • Contribute ideas to the development of the Alumni engagement and communication strategies to promote the 3-year CES promise.
  • Research best practice in commercial awareness and update LMI information and present findings in publications to students.
  • Support the operation of the CES Hubs (Kedleston Road and Markeaton Street) promoting the CES service offer, welcoming students, offering first point of contact support and signposting, as well as live chat support.

Qualifications

  • University of Derby second year undergraduate student

Experience

  • Experience or willingness to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience of using various social media platforms and creating content.
  • Experience of using basic computer applications and tools.

Skills, knowledge and abilities

  • Organisation skills with a methodical approach to workload
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to pay attention to small details in marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated creativity or an interest in contributing creative ideas.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
