In a fast changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.

The English Language Teaching Division (ELT) is a global leader in the provision of multimedia English language teaching and learning materials. Operating in over 100 countries, it reaches millions of teachers and students each year to support the development of English language proficiency.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our Creative Media team, working within the Custom Product, Assessment & Supplementary Content stream. This is a pivotal time to join the team as we develop creative solutions, processes and workflows to ensure we respond to our customers quickly and efficiently. You will work closely with editors, designers and external creative suppliers including freelance Media Managers, design studios, illustrators, photographers and production companies. The role will require a flexible approach in order to meet fluctuating project demands within limited timeframes.

Key duties of the role will include:

  • Picture research / video footage research.
  • Basic video post-production and editing
  • Commissioning production companies.
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of relevant workflows & processes.
  • Advising, tracking and monitoring rights and permissions for Media content.

Occasionally, you may also be required to organize and direct photoshoots and /or attend video shoots, although this will not be a large part of the role.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll have a strong visual sense, a keen eye for detail and a passion for illustration, photography and film, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and to work within a budget. You’ll have great communication skills, enjoy building relationships and be comfortable negotiating.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience in design, illustration, film or a related industry
  • Experience of managing projects involving image (moving and still) creation.
  • Experience in outsourcing, including negotiating fees and managing budgets.
  • Experience of professional art editing / art buying (illustration and photography).
  • Knowledge of relevant copyright and licensing law.
  • Experience in creating digital products.
  • Excellent time management, task prioritizing, and scheduling skills.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Animation in a publishing environment.
  • Experience of working with children and child model licensing.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC, MS Office, After Effects and Video Editing applications.
  • Knowledge of video production, including production, post-production, after effects and video editing.
