We have an exciting opportunity within our British Gas Services Data Team for a MI Developerto help develop high value MI across all business functions.

You will be part of a highly skilled team of developers building automated reports and data solutions that improve the availability & visibility of data to our stakeholders and drive value within organisation.  

You will work with both our business stakeholders & our internal delivery teams and will be responsible for building reporting solutions based on requirements provided by the business.

Location: With our Flexible First working arrangements we empower our colleagues to work in a way that best suits them – meaning location doesn’t need to be a barrier. This role can be mostly based at home but you must be flexible to travel for occasional meetings required at our Centrica sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously deliver quality requirement specifications based on robust business analysis techniques and models, producing reporting wireframes in co-ordination with stakeholders where relevant.
  • Deliver high quality documentation to support the transition of your reports to our run ad operate team.
  • Development front-end solutions which could include new or amended data architecture, curated data solutions or new / amended reporting (inc. Self-Serve solutions).
  • Accountable for the delivery of reporting solutions though all development life-cycle stages within agreed timescales and managing & maintaining a central live log of progress.
  • Assisting with estimation of resourcing that support practical delivery timescales and communicate these back to stakeholders.
  • Support the Data Delivery Team with internal governance processes such as maintaining and updating a central business rule repository & ensuring that Centrica & national GDPR guidelines are adhered to within all data processing & reporting.
  • Work with DTS on developing efficient, automated HQL scripts within our Big Data environment.
  • Build and maintain a suite of Power BI Reports within our commercial function.

Who are we looking for?

  • Ability to work across a portfolio of projects at any one time with a proactive approach to your work. Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan work effectively & to prioritise where necessary.
  • Experience of working with large enterprise data sets that support growth and efficiency within a large company.
  • An expert at SQL (or similar), demonstrable understanding of system / database structures & processes and use of reporting tools (such as PowerBI) to meet identified business questions.
  • Experience in documenting complex, detailed data & reporting requirements that can be used by developers and reporting analysts to deliver a final product.
  • Excellent Stakeholder engagement & management skills across all levels of business.
  • Desirable to have some knowledge of data governance guidelines & processes.
