Job description

My client is currently recruiting for a National Account Manager to join their growing team.

Position Overview:

As a National Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fostering and expanding the business relationships within the grocery retail sector. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to achieve sales targets, establish brand visibility, and promote the products on a national scale. Your ability to effectively manage key accounts, collaborate cross-functionally, and stay attuned to market trends will be critical to your success in this role. The role will involve extensive EU and International travel as you extend the brands reach.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing grocery retail accounts, acting as the primary point of contact. Understand their unique needs, challenges, and goals to provide tailored solutions that drive mutual growth. An understanding of planogramming, merchandising and category managing is critical.

Business Development: Identify new business opportunities within the grocery retail sector. Prospect and onboard new accounts by presenting the product portfolio, value propositions, and differentiation in the market.

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic account plans that align with overall company objectives. Define sales targets, promotional strategies, and collaborative initiatives to enhance market presence and revenue. Reporting constant updates to senior management.

Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and promotional programs to ensure profitable and sustainable partnerships. Manage contract agreements and terms with a keen eye on compliance and consistency.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with marketing, product development, and supply chain teams to align on product launches, marketing campaigns, and inventory management. Provide insights from the market to influence product roadmap decisions.

Market Insights: Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences within the stationery, arts, and crafts space. Leverage this knowledge to develop informed strategies and recommendations.

Sales Analysis and Reporting: Monitor sales performance, track progress against targets, and generate regular reports for internal stakeholders. Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and drive continuous improvement. Reporting constant updates to senior management.

Travel: The role will involve extensive EU and International travel as we extend our brands reach. Engage in frequent travel to meet with key accounts, attend industry trade shows, and participate in relevant events to enhance brand visibility and foster relationships.

Requirements

  • Extensive account management, business development knowledge, and commercial experience.
  • A strategic thinker, highly analytical and results orientated.
  • An excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Naturally collaborative with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Enjoys working in a changing environment, able to demonstrate agility when responding to industry trends and evolving demands as the busienss expands into new markets.
  • Experienced in strategic account management within the grocery retail sector.

You must have either have worked within the gorcery secotor, selling to them, or worked for one of the grocers to be considered for the role. You must also have dealt with the toys, stationary or gifting products.

The OTE for this role is into the six figures
