Our purpose is to improve people’s lives through active, thematic and engaged investment which strives to deliver attractive outcomes to our clients and helps foster a healthy and vibrant world for all.
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Global Head of Portfolio Implementation to join our Newton team. This role is located in Boston / London – HYBRID
The Newton Portfolio Implementation team ensures that investment orders, across all markets and asset classes, are implemented on behalf of Portfolio Managers in line with client investment objectives and guidelines and Newton Investment Policy.
The Global Head of Portfolio Implementation is responsible for oversight of the Portfolio Implementation team, ensuring that all allocated work is managed without risk to the company, in an efficient manner and to the satisfaction of all internal and external clients; that effective checklists procedure documents are maintained; and that a continuous process improvement approach is clearly demonstrated.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
To oversee the Portfolio Implementation team and contribute, as required, to ensure smooth operational efficiency at Newton.
Manage the workflow within the team.
To keep up to date with regulatory changes impacting Portfolio Implementation.
Continuous process improvement – work closely with Technology to drive automation and deliver more efficient processes.
Ensure process documentation is in place and regularly reviewed / updated.
Ensure implementation playbooks are accurate and up to date at all times.
To undertake specific projects as requested by management.
Provide appropriate information to management and committees.
Translate model changes from Portfolio Managers into security orders across all markets and asset classes, adhering to client guidelines and restrictions, internal policy, underlying investment strategy and regulatory requirements.
Continuous re-alignment of Portfolios, including management of cash flows, based on agreed guidelines.
Manage rebalancing of Portfolios in a timely and effective manner.
The Global Head of Portfolio Implementation will:
Recognize the importance of their role (and the team) in supporting the success of the Newton business.
Be a strong and effective leader and role model able to instil a positive team culture that is in line with Newton Blueprint behaviours and which enables the team to offer consistently exceptional service standards to stakeholders. Will ensure that there is a clear and appropriate career development path for each team member, with on-going value-add and growth opportunities for all. Will address any low performance issues promptly to ensure team culture and objectives are not impacted.
Work collaboratively with team managers to deliver processes that provide ongoing increased efficiencies and economies of scale.
Work with a commercial mindset. Know the market, customers and stakeholders and understand what they want and need and how they work. Work closely with the Commercial and Operational teams to onboard clients efficiently.
Clearly display a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude and a drive to ‘go the extra mile’ to support their stakeholders (and other colleagues) and be able to influence other team members to follow suit.
Have excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and the flexibility to adjust daily work routines as required, to ensure priority tasks across the team are identified and completed.
Be an effective communicator able to demonstrate active listening skills and conduct clear and concise verbal and written communications. Will be able to remove ambiguity and add clarity.
Be a natural problem solver - someone who can look ahead and ‘around corners’ to identify when stakeholders need additional support, and who can proactively prevent or troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Build and leverage a network of BNY Mellon-wide contacts, building tactical relationships and SME level knowledge of relevant BNY Mellon corporate policies.
Promote a Community of Practice within the team displaying a proactive approach to sharing knowledge and best practice protocols - tracking changes to relevant BNY Mellon corporate policy, evolving working practices and new technology solutions, in order to maintain SME-level knowledge across the team that will support process improvements and allow the team to anticipate and adapt to changes.
